This email is different than most that I write.

I started writing it as a promotion for Earth Centered Entrepreneur (my 4 week online program for small business owners that starts in a few weeks) but then I became simultaneously enraged by what's happening in the world while also feeling super inspired by our roles in making changes for the better.

I'm not editing what's written below much so it might seem a bit off kilter but I think you get what I'm trying to say. Take what's helpful for you and leave the rest.

This is my once-a-year offering to share many of the things (I almost said everything but I think that would be impossible) that I have learned in the past 20 years of being an entrepreneur and in the past 2+ of owning Wild Heart Herb House!

(ok here comes the inspired ramble...)

I am fully aware of the horrors that persist in our world. It is unbearable. I do not have my head in the sand BUT I am also focused on being the change that I wish to see in the world (the Gandhi mantra that I have lived my life by since I was a teenager) - channelling my rage into a positive contribution. This is honestly the only way that i can go on day after day.

If you're feeling helpless it is so important NOW MORE THAN EVER to empower yourself to bring your skills and gifts to the world to build the better world that you want to live in for yourself, your family, everyone else, and OUR PLANET!!

I don't often talk about everything that's wrong because I choose to focus on whats right, helpful, inspiring, and what is going to lead us into a better way of living.

It is not my place in the revolution to destroy old systems and actively fight against oppression (well I do this in my personal life - I haven't worn makeup, shaved my body hair, or worn a bra in years along with the numerous other ways that I don't conform to the patriarchy, white supremacy, and cis-hetero-normativity). IT IS MY ROLE TO CONTRIBUTE TO BUILDING THE NEW WORLD THAT WILL EXIST ONCE THE OLD ONE HAS BEEN DEFEATED. Because it definitely will. At no time in history have empires lasted. What we are seeing now are the death throes of something that no longer works, is completely unsustainable, and devastatingly harmful.

WE CAN BUILD THE NEW WORLD TOGETHER!

This morning I received a great email from a mentor and incredibly insightful and intelligent human and herbalist/nutritionist Camille Freeman who in her newsletter quoted beat poet Diane Di Prima (read more of Diane's work here.)​

(this honestly inspired me to write this newsletter to you today)

So yes this is a sales email, yes I do want you to sign up for Earth Centered Entrepreneur if it's appropriate for you, and yes I do want to make money from this program - that i will use to pay for my basic survival needs, the continuation of everything that we're doing at wild heart to build the new world, and funnel that money into other small businesses further empowering others and strengthening our web of connection, see how this all works?!!!!!

We create the world that we want to live in ONE STEP AT A TIME and in community with others. WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER!

ALSO! THERE ARE PLENTY OF THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO TO CONTRIBUTE TO POSITIVE CHANGE WITHOUT BEING A BUSINESS OWNER!!!

• plan potluck dinners with your neighbors
• buy local produce at the farmers market
• send a message to a friend you have been meaning to be in touch with
• tell your friends and family that you love them
• go for more walks outside
• organize food drives
• stop scrolling and read a book or make art!
• remember that your money votes on what kind of world you want!
• KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!! DON'T GIVE IN TO DESPAIR!!! THAT'S WHAT OPPRESSIVE FORCES WANT AND ARE DEPENDING ON!!!

whew ok that was a lot and not at all what i thought i was going to write today but its important. I'm getting my period and feel both agitated and wiped out and maybe follicular phase Nico wouldn't have written this but here we are.
