herb fest teacher spotlight! 🔦

It's hard to believe we're approaching the autumn equinox, the halfway point between summer + winter solstices, but the changes I see out in the world are undeniable!

Brilliant yellow goldenrod illuminating the overgrowth on the side of the road, mugwort in full seeded glory preparing for next spring, crispy hydrangeas, and bright orange pumpkins at roadside stands replacing the summer squash and cucumbers.

But this time of year also has another meaning for me now... a time of dreaming and preparations leading up to Wild Heart Herb Fest!

Our community is really stepping up + coming together to pull off an amazing day of friendly connections, herbal wisdom, ceremony, seasonal ritual, and just plain FUN!

Including the option to pre-order a delicious made for you vegetarian lunch by Ohh Goodness! Pre-order your lunch here, Nicole will deliver it to you at Herb Fest!

More teachers, vendors, and healing practitioners are coming onboard every day and the Wild Heart website will be continually updated as the event grows nearer.

But for today I would love to introduce you to some of our spectacular teachers offering workshops at Wild Heart Herb Fest on Saturday Sept 27!

Resident Wild Heart shop witch Michele is teaching a class at Herb Fest!!

Getting Dirty: Plants and Sensuousness (eeeek! so good!)

Michele Marcus-Dew (she/they) is an herbalist, gardener, and rad Jewish witch currently planted in New Bedford, MA. She lives in devotion to land and how we can look to nature for our own pathways to liberation.

We will gather in circle, surrounding a Garden of Sensual Delights to explore and awaken our pleasure centers and connection with Earth. Plants will be our guides as we taste, touch, smell, listen, and take in their wisdom + magic through their many forms - elixirs, live plant play, aromatic extractions, sounds, infused honeys, massage oils and more. Bring a journal for archiving your experiences, writing down recipes, and any other wisdom downloads.

You know her as the kind, compassionate, open hearted, generous, and wildy reflective + intelligent herbalist behind the counter at Wild Heart every Saturday and I am SO THRILLED she is offering this experiential class at Herb Fest!

Perpetual Pickle Pots with Christin Ritz!

Christin has been fermenting food for 2 decades, and some of her ferments have been alive for almost as long! A student of the non-credo macrobiotic philosophy, Christin believes in learning through lived experience. After many years of studying the energy of food and natural health, she created her Eating with the Elements online course about the energetics of food and the changing seasons. She also teaches classes and workshops on crystals and nine star ki astrology.

Harness the magic of microbes to create delicious turmeric and horseradish pickles! With this method, you can keep the same pickle pot going perpetually for YEARS! If you have wanted to find an easy and delicious way to get the benefits of probiotic-rich, living, fermented food into your diet, this is it! Participants will leave with the knowledge to safely ferment vegetables at home along with recipes and guidance to get started.

A lifelong friend of mine (our grandma's were neighbors and BFF's, how cute is that?!) and a friend to all microbes, Christin has SO MUCH TO SHARE about fermented food + gut health. Do not miss this class if you're sick of feeling bloated and having belly issues!

Edible + Medicinal Plant Walk with Maggie Hatzpanian

Maggie has been on a healing plant path for 20+ years, studying with many teachers, in many healing traditions. As an Herbalist she knows that always and forever, the plants themselves are the true teachers and guides for healing!

Stroll along the wild edges of Haskell Gardens with Maggie and identify edible and medicinal plants. We share our region and ecosystem with a variety of edible and medicincal plants. Learn how to identify these plants during this interactive and informative class. For the edible plants that are discovered, recipes will be shared, so you can discover how to consume on your own. Questions are highly encouraged and hearing your uses and recipes we see are most welcomed!

There's nothing quite as connecting + nourishing than getting to know the plants that grow wild all around you, and this is an amazing opportunity to learn from a seasoned and experienced local nurse and herbalist!
