this isn’t one of my best subject lines πŸ€”

Hi there Reader!

I hope you are enjoying these warmer days and the UNBELIEVABLE GREEN LUSHNESS EVERYWHERE!!! Obviously I am very much lol. After a drab winter it is so nice to see bright colors everywhere.

I was about to say something about finding joy in the little things but you know what, living on a stunningly beautiful full of life planet that so generously provides us with everything that we need is not so much of a little thing, its kind of the whole thing!

Anyways, I am so happy that you're here and speaking of love for our planet I would like to share a great resource with you:

It's The Honorable Harvest from Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer

I was sending this document to the participants of our Herbalism Day Retreat (next one is this summer, details below!) because I read it to them during our lunch break with tears in my eyes, full of so much love and appreciation for the wild world and all plant and animal kin. I wanted them to have a copy to read and reflect on.

I hope you take a moment to read it yourself. It lists indigenous guidelines for foraging wild foods and herbs with reverence to the earth and all other creatures. I highly recommend reminding yourself of these guidelines if you forage for herbs out in the world, like I did with wild beach roses this week. Crucial and important practices that ensure there is enough for everyone in the years to come!

Shop Update One: We will be open Sunday 10-3 (this week only) for Dia da Krianca, aka Cape Verdean Children's Day! Its a fun day at the gardens with food, art, music, and community celebrating children of all cultures. It's free, join us!

We are also open regular hours Thursday 12-5, Friday 12-8, and Saturday 10-3.

Nothing special going on this Friday night (it's the fifth one this month!) but I will be here hanging out if you want to come chat and sip tea with me. Evening is also a totally magical time to explore Haskell Gardens!

Shop Update Two: We've picked a date for our next Herbalism Day Retreat at Wild Heart! It will be Saturday August 16 from 10-4. I'm expecting that this retreat will sell out like our first one did so if you know for sure that you want to attend you can find all the details and sign up here!

Shop Update Three: We have live herb plants for sale including tulsi, chamomile, lemon balm, and catnip! From local organic farms in Westport + Dartmouth, $5 each.

Shop Update Four: We now have a 50% off sale section! When we first opened I tried out lots of products to see what the community would be interested in, so some products that we won't be carrying any more are on sale. While supplies last!

That's all for this week loves, hope to see you at Wild Heart Herb House soon!

Love, Nico

It's hard to believe we're approaching the autumn equinox, the halfway point between summer + winter solstices, but the changes I see out in the world are undeniable! Brilliant yellow goldenrod illuminating the overgrowth on the side of the road, mugwort in full seeded glory preparing for next spring, crispy hydrangeas, and bright orange pumpkins at roadside stands replacing the summer squash and cucumbers. But this time of year also has another meaning for me now... a time of dreaming and...

Hi there Reader! There is definitely a morning crisp in the air and it is getting noticeably darker in the evenings. I know to many of you this means your favorite season is upon us, but as a summer baby I can't help but wish this year's hottest days were yet to come! While I quietly mourn the passing of summer (it went by too fast as always) I also celebrate the bounty of the autumn season upon us, easy sleeping during cooler nights, and all of the incredible events that we have going on...

Hi there Reader! I'm so looking forward to our Summer Herbalism Day Retreat next Saturday! It's going to be an absolutely PERFECT day of herbal medicine making, foraging in the gardens, enjoying a delicious made just for you vegetarian/vegan lunch prepared by shop witch + culinary genius Michele, getting to know other local herb lovers, and adding to (or beginning) your home apothecary! There is nothing more magical, fulfilling, empowering, and just plain fun than spending a day in a...
